Future education is not a system, but the autonomy of children

27.09.2017

One of the important principles of the "Charter of Future" expert platform is not the way of changing one system to another, but the creation of a different society, with a different vision and people making informed decisions. Special attention is paid to education in this area. The Charter experts have created and published the "Educational Doctrine of Future" in which our approaches to change are fixed. We believe that experts are interested in alternative experience in this issue, with a different approach to teaching children. Philippe Grayer, a well-known innovator in education, arrived in Kiev. Here are a few of his main points and points that are important in understanding our future Ukraine.

The world is changing

is a phrase that is said absolutely by everyone. But few people are ready to answer the questions: where do we go in the sphere of education, and what will happen in the new era? At the same time, there are already people who think by categories of the future, experimenting, finding new alternative projects. Philip defined the goal for himself - to unite all these projects and to work out together at the global level a new form of education.

Every parent wants only the best for his child, so that he will succeed. In this desire, parents move in line with existing trends, which sometimes kills the talents of the future of this planet. Alternative learning, regardless of form, preaches one task: to set the trend - the absence of trends. And this is seen in the many-sided development of the child.

Existing communities of alternative types of training need support. There are solutions, says Philip, they need to be expanded. After all, the problems of education have long been not a national issue, but a global one. Grayer in his search is aimed at the trend of teamwork. Ukraine in this movement, too, does not stand aside and has its own samples. First of all, he would like to get acquainted with them in order to tell others about them.

Local and global cooperation is needed

says Grayer.

The global level of communication will allow us to overcome the crisis and create a different format for education. The creators of this form should be society: teachers, pupils, parents and many others.

Future education is definitely not a system. Society is going through a period of transformation. There are new technologies that form some flexibility in acquiring new knowledge, and, consequently, will allow forming new solutions to the existing crisis.

We do not need to change one broken system to another; we need many examples of forms of education like anti-school, democratic school, home school, etc. With the help of new technologies, we can de-ideologize education. Our principle is the autonomy of the child

says Philip.

At the same time, there are a number of problematic issues in the approach of Philip. The first - you cannot put everything solely on the technological process of education.

We study everywhere in Israel, a whole district of the city has become an educational space, children go to a restaurant and learn how to cook.

They get acquainted with the artist on the street and learn to draw.

All of our environment is a learning environment

Another issue that still needs to be worked on is the availability of censorship. In the format that Philip talks about, the basic qualification is reputation. That is, a person must earn the trust of the community to obtain carte blanche for the implementation of management, etc. However, in this system we do not know what level of knowledge people will have in this community. How to distinguish laziness and degradation from constant education and evolution. The issue of censoring will be relevant, because it will transfer the risk of return of the system.

From 26 to 30 April Philipp Grayer got acquainted with the techniques of Ukrainian innovators and shared the experience of other countries. In Ukraine, there is a real opportunity to create our own, alternative form of education in order to become an example for other countries.
